Position Summary:

The Transportation Technology and Compliance Analyst reports to the Manager of Purchased Transportation and Transportation Compliance and will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing shipments for routing violations, assessing pre-defined compliance charges to vendors, analyzing EDI feeds, looking for improvements within Belk’s TMS, and creating actionable analysis, reports, and optimization scenarios.  He/she will work primarily with carriers, Transportation Analysts, Freight Bill Coordinator, vendors, Accounts Payable, and other internal partners.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing/verifying/editing of chargeback data and letters
  • Analyzing Vendor violations to identify opportunities for Merchant Discussions with a goal of improved DC product flow and increased speed to floor.
  • Owner of all SOP’s ensuring they are up to date and still part of the daily operation.
  • Maintain lists of chargeback exemptions and vendors exempt from freight chargebacks
  • Escalate vendor concerns/requests for refund to management as necessary.
  • Develop and process correspondence with vendors
  • Compile data for Manager and Accounts Payable Dept.
  • Prepare month end close out with attention to detail and assurance of accuracy
  • Continuously improve process in Compliance through automation
  • Work with management and team members to develop new processes and to improve existing processes within Mercurygate and Compliance to streamline workflow.
  • Know all aspects of current EDI operation, set-up carriers EDI feeds with help from MercuryGate, and form relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Be able to create ad hoc reports for EDI feeds and Compliance issues troubleshooting problems as they occur.
  • Ad hoc analysis projects to create and support decision making.
  • Plan and create optimization scenarios, analyze the results, and help with the execution of new models when needed.
  • Create and maintain databases with little to no direction.
  • Own project work assigned with little assistance from the team manager.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to break down a situation into its main components
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with a focus on Excel, Access, and Word
  • Capable of providing analysis to management
  • Experience being in a team environment
  • Appropriate sense of urgency based on understanding impact to other departments/customer
