The Project Manager has primary responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing technology projects, identifying key resources and providing the direction they require to meet project objectives. Utilizes necessary resources and skills to produce project deliverables within agreed cost, timescale, and quality parameters. Plays a role in project planning, project monitoring and control, relationship management, and providing thought leadership.
This Project Manager will be supporting projects in the store systems space and working with Stores technology teams.
Organizes the work into manageable work packages or phases and determines an effective approach to completing the work.
Develops estimates for effort, budget, and schedule.
Develops a project plan that documents critical path amongst tasks and activities.
Communicates a clear vision of project’s objectives and motivates the project team to achieve them.
Develops a project charter and other key PMO deliverables such as stakeholder analysis and communication plans.
Effectively manages the activities of the team to meet project milestones.
Analyzes actual performance against the plan and adjusts consistent with plan objectives.
Provides tracking and reporting of progress to plan regarding schedule.
Actively manages budget tracking and earned value progress.
Proactively manages change to baselined scope, schedule, and cost variables, communicating impacts and facilitating decisions.
Resolves issues that impact the project in a timely, effective manner.
Analyzes risks, establishes contingency plans, and identifies trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action.
Acts as primary escalator of project risks and issues to project stakeholders.
Follows and enforces PMO standards, processes, and tool utilization standards.
Manages vendor relations and procurements related to the project requirements.
Manages relationships with project stakeholders.
Effectively communicates relevant project information to stakeholders and teams.
Mentors team members and external stakeholders, regarding project management best practices.
Participates in vendor selection and negotiation process to assist in project planning and risk identification.
Can plan and execute in traditional waterfall methodologies as well as iterative and agile like frameworks.
Familiar with project, portfolio management (PPM) tools and can utilize for project setup, management, and reporting.
Store Systems and POS experience.
Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
10 years of experience
Experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet-oriented applications and systems
Experience managing technology projects and working with technology project management methodologies. (e.g. waterfall, agile, iterative)
Experience running multiple technology projects at once
Working knowledge of and competency in project management processes, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, issues management, time management, and financial management
Understanding of appropriate technology platforms and retail systems
