Position Summary

The Merchandise Assistant is responsible for compiling, processing, disseminating and maintaining merchandise information and providing other clerical support to Buyers and Assistant Buyers within the Buying area.   

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Set up and maintain items in database, including special orders;
  • Enter price changes into PMF program in order to alter pricing for stores and eCommerce
  • Manage purchase orders (PO’s): create new POs, track orders (shipping and receipts); process Return To Vendors (RTV’s), update/change POs as needed using APX and SPO systems
  • Pull business results of circulars, tests, and special events
  • Generate reports and analyze data in order to support marketing workflow, pricing/signing, and style selling strategies & objectives
  • Track and communicate vendor data using PO tracking systems
  • Perform various Marketing Workflow activities: enter in copy information for ads, perform image requests, fill out styles for turn-in, provide artistic direction regarding product photos, enter sales projections; prepare advertising specification sheets, administer sample programs
  • Supports CARS/eComm teams as necessary which may include acquiring samples, developing item descriptions, and providing additional information 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative/clerical duties including copying, faxing, and filing for the Buyer and Assistant Buyer
  • Provide coaching and training on systems and office procedures to fellow MAs, Executive Trainees (ETs), and Assistant Buyers
  • Enter co-op contracts into BMS program in order to track co-op advertising financials
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Education, and Experience: 

Minimum Required:

 Bachelors degree and/or equivalent years of experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Specific work or project experience: Demonstrated basic-level Microsoft Excel proficiency

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum Required:

  • Familiar with standard PCs and business software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Advanced computer navigational skills.
  • Analyzes data from multiple sources to identify trends & risks, resolve issues, and recognize opportunities.
  • Flexible; capable of shifting to different projects as priorities change; successfully navigates ambiguity and drives business results regardless of obstacles
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and enter data in a computer. 

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the retail industry, including exposure to pricing and advertising methodology
  • Demonstrated experience using Oracle systems
