Position Summary:

The Marketing Database Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining data integrity within the Belk CRM database, lead any database enhancement efforts by collaborating with key stakeholders, and monitor any data feeds being sent to from either Belk or third-party vendors to our CRM database provider.  This would include the change management process needed to support customer analytics, campaign management and IT initiatives as well as regular checks for data quality.  The Marketing Database Analyst will apply leadership, strategic thinking and project management skills to ensure optimal database design & integrity required to support a 360-degree view of the Belk customer.  

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  •   Become the subject matter expert for the Belk customer database while researching and understanding industry best practices to make recommendations to improve the database and better support marketing initiatives.
  •  Take ownership of the change management process by working with key business stakeholders, internal IT and external vendors on a regular basis to resolve any database integrity issues that would impact customer analytics, campaign management and IT initiatives.
  •  Monitor the overall health of the marketing database and work with internal & external partners to take corrective action as needed.  Including, but not limited to operational reporting, assisting with management and monitoring of data feeds and ad-hoc data pulls.
  • Work closely with customers analytics and campaign management teams to enhance customer database breadth and performance for use with customer analytics and marketing campaign targeting
  • Assist with database design optimization to insure ease of use for the marketing team and query performance speed. 

Minimum Education & Experience:

·        BA or BS College Degree, Management Information Systems or Computer Science preferred.

·        1-3 years of marketing experience (retail experience preferred)

·        Solid understanding of complex databases with relational data models.

·        Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks and initiatives.

  • Ability to lead projects, report status and manage/mitigate issues and risks.



·        MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

·        SQL

·        Exceptional organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Supervisor:  Manager, Customer Analytics

Supervises:  No direct reports
