Position Summary:

The role of the Jr. Copywriter is to write, edit and proofread copy content for product detail pages while maintaining the Belk brand and standardization rules throughout the site.  

The major responsibilities include:

·        Accurately and efficiently inputting and editing copy within Content Management Portal with a focus on proper prioritization

·        Write effective retail product copy (product names, descriptions, and features)

·        Implement the Belk Brand tone of voice and personality in copy

·        Translate merchant language and fashion trends into consumer-friendly copy that is clear and concise

·        Ability to follow standardization guidelines and style guide

·        Ensure that web content meets established editorial, quality, and industry standards for the pertaining consumer

·        Efficiently proofread, audit, and approve copy content

·        Ability to pinpoint inaccurate information and discrepancies in information provided

·        Effectively communicate and collaborate any copy issues with cross functional teams and peers; help ensure complete product details are retrieved from the vendor to improve web conversion rates and customer service scores

·        Make prompt changes when necessary

·        Assist in defining standardization formats and folksonomy from category to category by researching competitive websites and creating copy style guides that reflect go forward rules

·        Frequently inspect for copy errors, inconsistencies and correct as necessary in CMP.

Education & Experience

       Two years retail experience preferred

Copy experience preferred

Computer savvy.  Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook

Knowledge of HTML a plus

Superior writing skills, familiarity with basic industry standards, and a working fashion vernacular
