High Level Position Summary

The role of the Graphic Designer is to: 

Assist in the design and development, creation and prepress production of all retail instore departmental, seasonal and storewide graphics.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Assist in the creation and development of instore graphics (seasonal i.e. Valentine’s Day, Back to School, Christmas, etc. plus Department Specific graphic strategies i.e. Swim, Cosmetics, Intimate etc.
  • Directly responsible for maintaining art production bulletin boards on a weekly basis.
  • Directly responsible for rendering of proposed visual collateral programs with the store via Photo shop and Revit.
  • Assist in maintaining art production schedule and meetings where existing projects and new projects are reviewed.
  • Maintain Belk brand consistency in design of all graphic collateral.
  • Consult with other creative teams within other department including Advertising, E- Commerce, Private Brands, Merchants and Fashion / Trend Office.
  • Assist in managing all department in house large format printing projects and printers (paper, ink supply levels)
  • Requires close working relationship with outside production vendors including printed, fixture supplies and merchant vendors.
  • Ability to meet tight department and production timelines, deadlines and in- store dates.
  • Ability to translate Advertising / Promotional design into Instore visual collateral programs.
  • Ability to collaborate with the Marketing Graphic Designers making sure all collateral is cohesive.

Education, Training, and/or Certifications: 

Minimum Required:

  • Associates degree and/or equivalent years of experience.
  • Graphic Arts and Design
  • Specific Degree: Graphic Arts and Design

Minimum Required:

Years of experience, specific work or project experience, and industry experience (industry examples: Retail, Financial Services, Consulting, etc.

  • 4 or more years of applicable experience
  • Specific work or project experience: In Store Graphic  Design and Prepress
  • Industry experience: Retail Advertising or Visual Merchandising



  • 8 or more years of applicable experience
  • Specific work or project experience: In Store Graphic Design and Prepress
  • Industry experience: Retail Visual Merchandising
