Position Summary:

The role of the Financial Analyst is to assist the Financial Planning & Reporting team with:

• Providing accurate, timely and insightful financial reports

• Capital and expense budgeting and forecasting for Belk Merchandising, Advertising and eCommerce

• 3rd party credit card and Belk gift card operations and reporting

• Hyperion and Essbase financial system administration and reporting

• Performing ad-hoc analysis and project support as needed 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Assist with the preparation of various weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports that provide financial and operating insights and highlight key drivers of performance.
• Assess various test & learn pilot programs by helping develop measurement criteria and analyzing results
• Compile quarterly competitor benchmarking data by reviewing press releases and analyst reports
• Assist with capital and expense budgeting and forecasting for the merchandising organization (eCommerce, advertising and store fixture initiatives)  
• Support the 3rd party credit card and gift card team with operations and analyses, including distribution of new gift cards to the stores and assisting with gift card inventory counts
• Assist the Hyperion team as needed with administrative tasks necessary for maintaining and improving the Hyperion Planning and Essbase applications
• Produce ad hoc analyses & assist with special projects impacting the Financial Planning & Reporting team
 Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Financial Planning team and with other business partners throughout the company

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, and/or equivalent years of experience
• Two or more years of relevant experience working in Accounting or Corporate Finance (retail a plus)
• Energetic and positive attitude with a willingness to learn
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong technical and analytical skills
 Microsoft Excel skills must be strong.
 Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
 Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently as the situation demands
 Exhibits high sense of urgency, results oriented with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
• Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of the organization
• Ability to take initiative and learn quickly
