Position Summary:

Director of Store Technology and Selling Programs is responsible for defining and executing the strategic objectives for associate and customer facing store technology and store and associate selling and conversion programs. The Director is responsible for business requirements, business process, change management, departmental communication, departmental training, and analytics for all store facing technology initiatives and store selling programs.

 

As the Director, this individual will be responsible to provide the business direction and guidance respective to all Store Enabling Technology and Selling Program initiatives with oversight, and accountability of new store facing projects and programs. Key focus with enabling the business to deliver an aggressive growth plan, drive conversion, and optimized customer experience that is aligned to Belk’s overall vision. 

 

This individual will partner with various business functional areas, across cross-functional teams, cross-project dependencies and stakeholders, and IT and Stores Leadership to drive execution across the bundle of projects and programs and ensure Belk is accomplishing its initiatives.  Assesses projects’ operational impacts and ensures proper project planning, resourcing, and change management support.

 

Participates in overall business initiative planning and brings a current knowledge and future vision of store enabling technology to enhance the company’s competitive position. Provide leadership in determining the long-term success of our enabling technology and selling programs to ensure future growth.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Business owner – This individual is the stores business owner for store enabling technology (POS, mobile, etc…) and selling programs (online ordering from store, Ship from Store, BOPIS, traffic counting, selling specialist, etc…)
  • Business Interaction – Builds partnerships with stores, store leadership, other business partners, and IT organization. Uses relationships as the primary source of business initiative planning and requirements definition. Ensure effective use of store enabling technology and sales objectives are met in conversion and specialist programs.
  • Strategic leader providing oversight and accountability for associate and customer facing store technology and store and associate selling and conversion programs.
  • Provide strategic direction for business requirements within store projects, keeping in mind the operational impacts across multiple business functions.
  • Ensures operational execution and adherence to standard operational procedures and processes are driven in technology enabling, conversion, and selling programs.
  • Responsible for identifying, documenting, and providing business requirements, training, communications, SOP’s for all store enabling technology and selling programs and projects.
  • Deliver on use cases for store enabling technology and business sales objectives for conversion and selling programs.
  • Lead and/or partner with Store Finance Teams to provide analytics with conversion and selling programs to drive growth, sales, and margin objectives.
  • Maintain open lines of communication and visibility with senior management and especially store leadership.

§  Staff Development – Directs staff toward achieving departmental objectives through clear communication of expectations, implementation and enforcement of standards, policies, procedures and methodology.  Provide consistent and clear feedback to team members on performance against goals and objectives.  Assesses individual contributions and potential to develop actions plans for improvement.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, making critical business decisions that support double digit growth year of year
  • Prior experience leading enterprise-level transformational programs, ideally within a retail environment, and interactions and interdependencies between IT and business components
  • Executive presence with ability to lead cross-functional teams through platform conversion and change management
  • Solid understanding of retail store operations with a core focus on optimizing customer experience
  • Experience leader driving industry leading digital experience in support of digital vision and strategy
  • Strong process improvement background experience with ability to effectively streamline existing processes to be more efficient
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational functions and levels, including small, focused groups, and very large, generalized audiences
  • Proven leadership skills, including peer leadership and senior executive management
  • Prior management and oversight of digital analytics
  • Analytically minded defining business KPIs to support ROI on initiative investments
