Position Summary:

The Communications Lead is responsible for creating and deploying communications across multiple domains that align to the Belk brand and culture.  Primary responsibilities center on planning and executing written and print communications, project management for key communication programs and activities.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions

 • Write and coordinate the distribution of associate news through several internal channels, including magazines,    emails, intranet pages, social and television networks. 
 • Monitors and responds to messages sent to Corporate Communications and Media mailboxes. 
 • Respond to requests for archived photos, articles, and other communications.
 • Provide guidance and feedback on editorial content of company publications, videos and other external and internal communications as needed. Bring forward story ideas for company publications on strategic initiatives, corporate plans and other key topics. 
 • Provide advice, support and assistance on key executive meetings, and other special events as needed. 
 • Assist BSS and division management in production of communications supporting major changes, initiatives and new programs as needed. 
 • Helps maintain communication department pages on the Belk Intranet (news releases, internal announcements, management changes, news articles about Belk). 

 Additional Responsibilities 
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree required 
• 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications (including employee communications, media relations, special events and speech writing) 
• At least 2 years of project management experience 
• Experience in client relationships and managing stakeholder expectations
• Experience working in a corporate Communications function 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite 

 Preferred Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree major in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism 

 Competencies:
 
 • Strong writing, editing and proofing skills (including writing for publications) 
• Proficient computer skills, including word processing, computer presentation graphics, spreadsheets and database management software 
• Ability to establish partnerships with senior level business partners 
• Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects concurrently and develop in a fast-paced environment 
• Ability to be both strategic and tactical based on project needs 
• Strong consulting skills to uncover business needs, make recommendations, and develop solutions • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
