Position Summary:

This position provides support to management with all aspects related to fixed assets accounting and some areas of payroll accounting.  Primary responsibility will be maintaining the asset management sub-ledger, revising and maintaining the company capital policy, assisting with producing timely and accurate financial statements related to the following general ledger accounts:  PP&E, depreciation, impairments, gain/loss, and bonus.  This position strives to provide excellent customer service to all business partners. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Manage the monthly processing of the asset management system and understand depreciable lives and methods applied to assets created. 
  • Identify, research, and help to resolve capital versus expense issues.
  • Ensure capital expenditures are recorded accurately.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly impairment analysis.
  • Participate in the capital budgeting process to give guidance and decisions on whether or not items should be accounted for as capital or if they should be included in the expense budget.
  • Reconcile the asset management system to the general ledger.
  • Research and implement new process improvements.
  • On an on-going basis identify and implement new ways to improve upon the asset categorization system.
  • Perform the monthly close of the fixed asset sub-ledger and all owned accounts within established deadlines.
  • Participate in quarterly Lawson patch testing.
  • Capitalize assets timely and accurately into the asset management system.
  • Perform account reviews, bonus schedule reviews, and monthly variance analysis, as assigned. 
  • Perform assigned general ledger reconciliations.  Understand activity in account, nature of transactions/timing of reversals, build expectations on account balances.
  • Prepare journal entries, recurring entries, and accruals in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of quarterly adjustment packages and quarterly analytics.
  • Assist business partners.  Effectively communicate with others to obtain month end material on a timely basis.
  • Prepare cash flow work papers, SOX documentation, and controls testing as needed. Provide assistance to external auditors and External Reporting group.
  • Lead quarterly Accounting & Real Estate Team Meeting
  • Maintain current and detailed documentation for all assigned accounts. 
  • Develop usage skills of the Real Estate Management system (AMT).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Require four year degree - Accounting/Finance/Business (Accounting preferred)
  • Minimum of three years accounting or related work experience
  • Knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting (preferred)
  • Proficient in Lawson (preferred) or similar general ledger software
  • Proficient in Hyperion including Essbase (preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Office application skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
