Position Summary:

The Retail Development Program – Human Resources (HR) prepares you for your first position in Recruiting, Talent Management or HR Generalist.  Associates will participate in professional development classes with the Retail Development Program cohort, complete on-the-job projects, and experience rotational assignments to learn various aspects of HR. Participants are also matched with mentors to help acclimate to Belk, develop on the job, and identify future career possibilities. 

The Retail Development Program – HR will hire candidates in our Charlotte, NC headquarters. Participants will benefit from a large network of peers across Belk in the Retail Development Program. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

On the Job

  • Work in a fast paced, dynamic, test and learn environment
  • Strategic assignments in Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Human Resources
  • Assist in projects that drive associate engagement and development
  • Support change management projects for large scale organizational changes
  • Develop functional sourcing strategies and support interview process and coordination
  • Support roll-out of learning and leadership development classes and programs
  • Learn, document, and improve key HR processes 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Strong academic performance (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)
  • Must have graduated within 6 months of June 2018 and able to start full time June 2018
  • Prior internship in field strongly preferred 
  • Open to learning, able to adapt to changing circumstances and reprioritize tasks as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers and all levels of the organization
  • Committed to meeting goals within a dynamic, fast-paced and results oriented environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future
