Position Summary:

As a participant in the Belk Intern to Leadership Program (ILP) you will gain real word experience and exposure to various functional areas of Visual Merchandising. You will focus on creative trends within store visual displays while assisting in our overall brand management. You will gain experience through structured shadowing assignments, classroom workshops, and formal mentorship during the 10-week program.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Work with the team on the coordination, development, and execution of visual merchandising strategies in stores
  • Assist in communicating monthly merchandise direction to stores
  • Attend merchant working sessions to determine product merchandising strategies
  • Assist in execution and writing of visual directives for promotional signing for all areas of the store
  • Attend promotional signing calendar meetings with Marketing and Credit to review and ensure that signing calendars are in sync with messaging
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Rising college senior planning to graduate in Spring 2019
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization 
  • sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future 
  • Proven strong academic performer (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power point, Excel etc.)
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, ACAD, and Illustrator
  • Leadership skills that include professional business ethics, confidence and self-
  • motivation
  • Previous retail experience
